Wide Open Country Premiere's "Turn Again"
Singer-songwriter, instrumentalist and producer John Calvin Abney finds hope in the setbacks on "Turn Again," the first release from his forthcoming album Safe Passage (out on September 27 via Black Mesa Records).
The fiddle-driven tune finds value in starting anew and being kind to yourself when you're staring down a road leading to old habits.
"The less I know the better I feel/ My mind turns easy like a worried wheel," Abney sings. "There's things I miss that tried to kill me/ That took my peace and balled my fists/ And if you find yourself turning back to the places you've been, then turn again," Abney sings. "Then turn again."

In addition to his own music, Abney is also a sought-after instrumentalist who's known for his work with John Moreland among others. Moreland, in turn, appears throughout Safe Passage.
Safe Passage is the follow-up to Abney's 2018 album Coyote.
