The Oklahoma scene has a tight-knit community which includes labelmates Travis Linville, John Calvin Abney, and M. Lockwood Porter, and Beau had long been a fan of the Black Mesa's output and ethics, such that a collaboration started to feel inevitable and necessary. On their new four-song EP, The Tigers’ skill is at the forefront. Recorded mostly live in one day at Blackwatch Studios in Norman with Jarod Evans, the record provides an apt introduction to Beau’s career with Black Mesa Records and covers a ton of stylistic ground. From the immediacy of opener “Feel The Sun” to the Big Star-esque “Not Even Close,” the record dives right in before hitting a slower gear on “Slip Between,” with the nostalgic ode to roller rinks and rock ‘n roll, “Star Skate,” closing out the EP.
